Cranmore Mountain real estate for any price range

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

The kids are going back to school, and though right now we are in the midst of a heat wave, fall is coming soon. In Mt Washington Valley, this means it’s time to start getting excited for ski season.  Mt. Cranmore is where the buzz is this year. This summer the mountain was purchased by Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, and there are plans for major improvements in the near future. If you ski Cranmore, here are some of the new features to look forward to: (more…)

Biking the Best Real Estate above North Conway

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

We spent the second weekend camped at the base of Mount Washington. We had two teams participate in the 24 Hours of Great Glen and had a great time doing it. It was the 15th year of the event and the theme was the 70’s. We witnessed more than a few bad costumes that were out of style in any decade. We showed up on a sunny Friday morning to set up our camping area. Three campers, six tents and a dozen bikers gearing up for the big race that started on Saturday at 12 noon. By Friday evening our families had arrived and we settled down around the campfire to tease each others’ riding ability and choice of riding attire. (I defend my lastest bike shorts to the death-they are rather spiffy.) Seventies music was heard throughout the campground and to the delight of riders and woodland creatures alike.

24 Hours of Great Glen August 9-10, 2008The race commenced Saturday morning with a run around the pond. We managed to eke out 17 laps and finished an unsurprising last in our division. Our second fared about the same although we did beat them in overall standings. We rode in dusty conditions day and night and survived to tell the tale to our children who were bored at the thought of hearing about it again. We packed our campers and headed home Sunday to relax in the glow of tired muscles and a feeling of a job if not well done at least done and over. Until next year.

We continue to train all season (to little avail) throughout Mount Washington Valley. There are hills and mountains and streams all over this grand peice of real estate and none of us would trade it for any other. Come see what all the excitement is about and take a look at some property that could be the setting of your next grand adventure.

Rally Mt Washington Valley

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

-Kyla Brustin

I love to drive.

By this I don’t mean running errands around town. I mean speeding up hills and around curves, testing the limits of my driving and of my beloved Subaru Legacy GT. A love of speed is in my genes. My mother raced dirtbikes in her 20s, and when I was growing up,  she always drove a 2 seater while my stepfather drove the family car. Some of my fondest memories are of listening to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with my mother while we detoured on roads less traveled for the express purpose of enjoying music and the excitement of speed. Conway Lake

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

-by Greydon Turner

We spent some great time boating on Conway Lake this weekend. The weather was gorgeous and the water almost as smooth as glass. We went tubing with our kids and then tied up with a couple of friends to enjoy some BBQ and conversation.

I grew up on a large lake in central NH  and moved here about 16 years ago. Unfortunately, it took me about 10 years to discover the lake but I am glad I did. (more…)

Mt Washington Valley offers more than just shopping and outdoor sports! For those looking for a little culture during their stay, we recommend a visit to one of the delightful  Mt Washington Valley Theatre Company productions at the Eastern Slope Playhouse. This year fifty talented performers, directors, designers and technicians have come to the Valley from all over the country. They are working harder than you can imagine to make this season a dazzler! See the lineup below. (more…)

Mt Washington Valley Real Estate Report

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Summer has arrived in Mount Washington Valley, and so far it has brought plenty of sunny and warm weather. The real estate outlook seems to be sunny as well. Whereas we thought that the end of the homebuyer tax credit would slow down sales activity, our worry is dissipating with recent news stating that NH sales were actually up 19.2 percent year over year in May. What seems to be fueling the activity are continued favorable buying conditions (see article below). With interest rates at 4.75% this week, your dream of owning a second home may now be acheivable. Each year the White Mountain Board of Realtors, our local Realtor organization, honors one among us with the Lifetime Acheivement Award. This year we are proud to announce that the recipient was our own Peter Pinkham. Here’s a little more about the man who has been behind Pinkham Real Estate and will continue to be for many years: (more…)

Fantastic Summer Homes!

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Memorial weekend could not have been more beautiful here in Mt Washington Valley. With warm, sunny weather and not a drop of rain, if you were here, you were happy. While Summer is a great time for swimming, hiking, biking and enjoying the outdoors, it’s also a great time to buy, especially since prices and interest rates are currently extremely low. If you would love to have your own place from which to enjoy summer in New Hampshire, here are our top picks by town:   (more…)

CHILL OUT!!!!

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

-By Dick Osterhout

Ah, the good ol’ summer time in the Mount Washington Valley! Weather in the 80’s crankin’ to 90 degrees. Snow still on top of Mount Washington though. But, wait tis only May. Not even Memorial Day weekend. Okay, so wait two days. Hot weather means one thing. ICE CREAM!!!
Just in time for the grand opening of the Glen Chill Out on Route 16 in Glen north of Story Land just across from Glen Ledge Road. Look for the log cabin. Can you say whoop tee doo? You see the Chill Out is just down the hill from me on Glen Ledge. Having worked my way through high school and college as a carbonic engineer, okay soda jerk, I am somewhat of an ice cream aficionado. The Chill Out is serving 25 flavors of soft serve which of itself is great. But, it is alo serving Gifford ice cream. Now to all you flat landers Gifford is on a par with Kimball Farm in Westford, or the Sundae School on the Cape or dare I say Ben & Jerry’s. The Chill Out will serve coffee and pastries working up to gelato. A Maine Maple Syrup ice cream cone is highly recommended by this carbonic engineer. The only thing I need to work on is the notion that in New England it is jimmies not sprinkles that go on top. A frappe has ice cream, a milk shake doesn’t. Although in the old Highland Pharmacy we did put a small scoop in to give it some more body. Marshmallow over whipped cream on a sundae. Real walnuts not peanuts on a sundae. I gotta go. I just talked myself into a french vanilla cone with jimmies and a tonic.

See ya at the Glen Chill Out Grand Opening May 28th.

Running in Jackson NH

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

-By Kyla Brustin

One of my favorite ways to enjoy Mt Washington Valley is to run it. If you live here or have a second home here, you may have seen me, my husband Josh, and our dog Lucy running through your neighborhood. Though most of our daily runs follow the streets of North Conway, one of my favorite places to go for a change of pace is Jackson. (more…)
