Living and Dining in Mount Washington Valley
Mount Washington Valley offers a wide variety of choices for the the enthusiastic diner. People enjoy a local offering of entrees from over 100 choices of establishments all nestled into a beautiful landscape. A lot of folks dream of moving up here to escape the rat race and open a little place of their own. It can be done!
Granted, it is not the easiest thing in the world to do. There are a myriad of problems that are inherent in the hospitality industry but they are not really any different from any other place in the world. Except maybe the south pole-there are some definite issues there that you will not face in downtown Boston. There is a very strong period of tourismn in North Conway, Jackson and Bartlett that runs from the early summer through foliage. There are some good stretches of business in the winter and the area is getting better at promoting itself during the doldrums of mud season, also known as spring. Many of the restaurants here are owned privately which means you are not trying to compete with the Olive Gardens and Panera Breads that populate so much of the landscape in suburban America. A good deal of properties for sale here have a rich history and have been operating for decades with a loyal local following. Of course, there are some that have fallen a bit behind the times but even places such as these are ripe for right person that can recreate some of the magic that once made them great. When new eateries open they bring quite a few things to the community-new ideas, new people, an addition to the local economy and diversity.
Is it easy to operate a restaurant in Mount Washington Valley? Is Conway or North Conway better or should you open in Jackson or Bartlett? Can I help with questions? Certainly I can. I have a wealth of experience in the area working with restaurants and foodservice operations like convenience stores and caterers. Call me to talk about what I can do to help find your dream place and let’s start planning a menu. Hungry yet?
