It’s vacation week! Time for the whole family to come to Mt. Washington Valley for some R & R. If, in your happiest dreams, Rest & Relaxation doesn’t include chauffeuring everyone to the mountain early in the morning, maybe before your first cup of coffee, picking them up for lunch, and taxiing them home at the end of the ski day…a trailside townhouse is the deliciously self-indulgent way to go.
Wildly expensive? Not necessarily. There’s a terrific 2 bedroom plus loft unit right on the Kandahar Trail at Mount Cranmore in North Conway for $299,000. It features a cathedral living room with fireplace, comfortable dining area, very spacious kitchen, master bedroom with en suite bath, guest or family bedroom, kid’s favorite loft, second full bath, lavatory and laundry. There’s also a double deck looking onto the ski trail, and easy, level access to the trail right from the door. In good condition, the townhouse comes mostly furnished and is equally fun in summer when the family will enjoy the private pool, hiking Cranmore and Black Cap and visiting Storyland and all the nearby funspots.
Also at Cranmore are Trailside Townhouses at $309,000 and $325,000 and a spacious unit in the Brookside complex, just across the street from the ski area, so it’s a “walk to ski” location, offering 2 bedrooms, a huge loft, 2 ½ baths, living room with fireplace, master suite with private porch and quiet, woodsy setting with a brook off the back patio at just $259,000. These units share the private pool and are walking distance to North Conway Village for restaurants and shopping.
At Attitash in Bartlett, NH, ski area townhouses prices go up, but are still reasonable, starting at $348,500 for a very nice, rustic 3 bedroom, 2 bath townhouse. Larger units from $385,000 to $549,000 and trailside units at Mountainside on Attitash from $429,000 to $559,900 are more luxurious and offer access to the Sports Club with indoor and outdoor pools, tennis, and cross country, hiking and riding trails.
So, imagine taking your time over that cup of coffee, letting the first run skiers scramble out the door and down the hill to the lift. After a bath and some “me” time, you may head out for a few runs and back home for lunch at your leisure. Apres ski, the fire awaits and everyone can gather over a hot chocolate…or whatever…to share the days’ adventures. Frazzled chauffeur? Or happy Trailside homeowner. Hmmmm….
